Gov. Crist’s veto of a mobile home enhancement program is a enjoin contend to the Florida mobile home industry’s lobbying efforts. Up to now mobile home lobbying groups undergo been successful in getting the attention of express lawmakers and diverting part of the funds allocated to furnish single-family houses. The first $7.5 million for a mobile domiciliate furnish program was taken from the $250 million set aside to change single-family homes for hurricanes last year. And another $15 million was to be spent this year before the governor vetoed the funding. But the governor said there was no proof this program will back up reduce mobile home damage during hurricanes. Mobile home manufacturers and owners disagree. Clearly this issue won’t be going away with around 600,000 older mobile homes built before enhanced wind standards were put in place in 1994. Don’t be surprised if some chew over is soon in the works as part of a compromise between the governor and the mobile home community. [ADVERTHERE]Related article:
